What do you have to do:

How are you helping FairMail:
All the pictures we are offering are taken by underprivileged teenagers in Peru and India. FairMail trains them in photography skills. They receive 50% of the profit FairMail makes to invest in their own education and housing. So by bringing us in contact with the person in charge of purchasing Christmas (e-) cards or photography you are introducing us to a potential client we would otherwise never come in contact with. If it turns into a sale for FairMail you are helping us find a market for our teenagers photographers and that way contributing to a better future for them.

How do we choose the winner:
From all the people who sent us the required information (see “what you have to do” section above) we will randomly pick ONE winner from the tips that lead to a concrete FairMail Christmas (e-)card order.
The winner will receive notice by the 15th of December 2014 and be published in the first newsletter of 2015.
Employees of FairMail and business partners of FairMail are excluded from the competition.

Estamos muy orgullosos porque 26 fotos de yoga de los adolescentes de FairMail Perú y India llegaron al semifinales de la «Concurso de fotografias de yoga» de este año. Junto con imágenes tomadas por fotógrafos de todo el mundo están compitiendo para llegar a la selección final del Calendario de Yoga de 2015.
Durante un mes, las imágenes se publican en la página de Facebook Devayani. Sólo las 12 imágenes con la mayor talla de finales de julio llegan a su calendario. 100% de los beneficios obtenidos por la venta del calendario se distribuirá entre las organizaciones benéficas 12 niños diferentes, entre los que los fondos para la educación de los diferentes adolescentes FairMail participantes. Helping out FairMail
Dare to Ask is a popular phenomenon in the Netherlands based on the idea that when people ask for what they truly want, the chances they will actually get it increases considerably. After all, there are plenty of people that are more than happy to help you along in realizing your dream. Imagine all the missed opportunities of people being happy to share exactly what you need for free, but not doing it because they didn’t have a clue you were looking for it. The scale of missed opportunities on a global level is huge! Dare to Ask makes “social surplus” visible and put it to good use.
In other words; why not share with FairMail what you don’t use and ask for what you could use that FairMail might have “lying around”? Below you can find a list of things FairMail could use that perhaps you can help us find:
– PR and Marketing advise. We could use the help of a professional PR agency to help us make our promotional activities more effective. We have a great story to tell, but how do we get it out there?
– Video of FairMail teenagers. On our new website (coming soon!) we want to include a personal video about each FairMail teenager on their personal profile page. Who would like to dive into their lives and tell their personal stories in short 1 minute videos?
Volunteer as photography trainer
– Volunteer Photography Trainers in Peru. The FairMail team in Peru is looking for enthusiastic volunteers with a passion for photography, who speak Spanish and have 6 weeks to give photography training in Peru. Do you know anyone looking for this enriching experience?
– Television and media contacts. For our upcoming promotion tour with the two Peruvian FairMail teenagers we are looking for journalists and other media contacts in Germany, France, Belgium, The Netherlands and Switzerland.
– Things to do for our teenagers during Promotion tour. For our upcoming promotion tour with the two Peruvian FairMail teenagers we are looking for places to visit and people to guide us. Places that are interesting for the teenagers to see (schools, cities, landmarks), but also places where they can promote their cards (festivals, shops, fair trade towns). FairMail Photography Trip
Will you be travelling next year with the Peruvian & Indian teenagers in search of the best pictures? The four trips for next year are now available online. Besides giving yourself a unique trip, you also give the same trip to one of the FairMail teenagers. That way giving them the opportunity to get to know their own country better and to take new pictures for their greeting cards.

FairMail Photography Trip
FairMail volunteer photography trainer
FairMail wouldn’t exist without the work of many international volunteer photography trainers who teach photography every week in Peru, India and Morocco. On average there are 2 volunteers per country at the same time who prepar 3 to 5 classes per week during the 2 months they work for FairMail. In an earlier blog we reported what this experience means from the volunteer perspective. But what to the FairMail teenagers think about their volunteer photography trainers? We asked the Indian teenagers:
– if the volunteers weren’t there, we could not learn about photography, so we would not be able to earn money
– they are our guest, so we have to take care of them
– because they give us ideas and projects to work on
– because the volunteers teach us about their countries
– they inspire us
– having ideas about what to teach us
– the weak students should be encouraged by them
– they should be good teachers
– needs to be patient
– it is good when they introduce new photographers
– they will see India and the Indian culture, living circumstances,
– help us to grow further
– because the project is a good project where you can help people
– because they can also travel around Varanasi (e.g. Ghats)
– the weather, some volunteers get sick because of it
– the trash/dirt outside
– they can find the amount of people in India difficult/ crowd situation
– language problem
– people on the street might comment
– they are most welcome, because through them we can learn. They can also tell us things from their own experience, not what they have learnt in books.
– We want you to come to India to come and see our country, see the colours, festivals, etc.
– We need help for taking better pictures.

Helping the teenagers during a photography trip
Yes, you are not mistaking. By helping FairMail you have the chance to win a free FairMail photography trip in Peru or India worth 600 euro.
All you have to do is give us the golden tip about who is in charge of the Christmas cards or e-cards at your employer and give us their personal details. Then we can approach him or her to lay down our offer to make tailor made Christmas or e-cards for your employer.
With a FairMail Christmas card you send a message that really touches people: showing how deprived teenagers work on their own future in a positive way using their creativity. With the chosen Christmas picture comes the personal story about the photographer and the direct link to who is being supported with the purchase of the card.

From all the tips that end up in an assignment for FairMail we will select one person who can come for free on an all expenses paid 10 day FairMail photography trip with one friend. (You do have to pay for your own airplane ticket to the starting point of the trip in Peru or India).
